The issue of brain size is a red herring. It has been used in the past to
"prove" such concepts as the mental inferiority of women to men, and supposed
differences on a racial basis. In fact there is little correlation between
brain size and intelligence either within a species (a heavy brain does not
correlate to a high intelligence) or between species. Neanderthal man had a
larger brain than we do. The mammal with the highest
brain-weight/body-weight ratio is the vole.
