virus: Brain Candy

I am now reading the Julian Jaynes book, "The Origin of
Consciousness In the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind".
Has anyone else read it? I heartily endorse it, even
though I am only half way through it. There is a big
sticky gobbet of brain candy on every page, it seems.
What I am really interested is if anyone has written
a book that denounces this book. The best way to
understand an arguement is to look at both sides.
If anyone knows of any other books along this vein,
let me know the titles, etc.
