Well said. I've always been fond of the Greek view of hope as "the
worst of all evils"[1] I think hope is tangled up in _desire_ and so
should be avoided for the same reasons.

[1] I beleive they thought this because they beleived the universe was
completely deterministic. Hope was thus seen as completely futile,
since you could not change the set course of events.
