If you think that this pattern of leaders and followers, saved and
damned is unique to religious institutions, you've never worked in an
office of any kind.

Truth is, in every action of your life, you are either leading or
following. Where things get tangled up is when one's ego starts to
interfere with those roles. Saying that you don't want to be a leader is
almost the same thing as saying your too good to be a follower.
