I've finally decided on a spiritual position... I'm now calling myself a
"freethought Atheist" or an "Atheist freethinker" And that's "weak"
atheism. ie. do to lack of evidence I personally don't beleive in a
God. He might exist, but His existance is irrelevant, since He never
*does* anything.
So I told Evelyn. And I also mentioned my plans for a "Church of
Freethought"
And now I'm a heretic. No more Church for this boy. I've been cut off!
I must say she's not weakening, either. I asked her what her problem
with my "Church of Freethought" was... she blathered on about not
worshiping God. I asked her if she beleived in <freedom>. "Yes. <but>
... God says..."
So I laughed (VBG)
Freedom, Evelyn, means *freedom*, not obeying what some book or some
<God> has to say. The freedom to choose for myself. To decide, for
myself, what is right and good. The freedom, Evelyn, to be my own God.
Foolish Christian.

... I'll miss her friendship. deeply
And for those interested, The Jefferson Bible is a truly great work.
Simply amazing. I'd love to own a "full-fledged" copy. In all *four*
languages, side by side. But for now, the digital copy is good:
http://www.angelfire.com/co/JeffersonBible/
It contains all the good in the New Testimate, and not much of the bad.
What a peice of work is a man! how noble in reason!
how infinite in faculity! in form and moving how express
and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension
how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of
animals!"
Hamlet, Act II, scene ii
Suits what I know of Jefferson to a tee.
