Actually, that is in no way what I said.
Utility, as such, was never a comment. And I specifically said that
'shamanism uprooted is a sham'- meaning, and I am sorry this was so
vague, that _only_ within his culture would the shaman perform any
service of any utility, and that in _another_ culture, yes, then it would
be useless.
No ethno/anthrological study refutes this to my knowledge.
It is a game though.
