Thank you David. While I did not get this from the web page the
discussion here has reinforced my thinking that you were referring to
blind faith. You have my agreement on that one.
I particularly despise any philosophy or religion that discourages
reason on the part of the practitioners. As a woman, I have also felt
that the paternalism prevalent in Judeo Christian dogma to be
particularly repellent. Perhaps it is because of my family history with
churches started by women.
I for one, do not fear the unknown. I keep sticking my nose into it and
getting it smacked all the time. But, in my opinion, this is what we
are about.... pushing back the dark. I also believe that science has
always been in the forefront of that effort since the beginning.
Someone after all did come up with that wheel thing an awful long time
ago.
But it is probably a chicken or egg kind of thing. If we ever prove for
example that we do continue in some cogent way after we die I would put
my bet on science for figuring out what is up with that.
I also know that proving that we do not continue in the absence of proof
to the contrary is a whole lot harder to do.... Funny how that works.
