I think maybe it's over-optimistic to take a concensus among
participants in a particular discussion to mean there's a
concensus among list members in general. I for one very
often don't bother to respond when I see something I disagree
with -- I'd never have time for anything else!

And don't forget, we always have to allow for the possibility of
factors we're currently unaware of, that would allow apparent
contradictions to co-exist. E.g., two people are looking at this
big cube, and one says it's white, while the other insists it's
black. For some reason they both think it has to be the same
colour all over, when in fact it's not, and they're looking at
different sides. We will never know everything -- or at least
we'll never know we know everything -- so we will always have
to allow the co-existence of apparent contradictions.
